When we were first asked to assist with this new magazine, we were all excited about the opportunity to work with so many extraordinary local women — from creatives and small business owners to women in real estate and medicine — including the team that has worked to put this issue together for you. Each step involved in the process bears the signature of women who wanted to bring you stories that will remind you we are vital and remarkable beings. Every interview and bit of content you will read here confirms this fact. Our capabilities are varied and endless, and it’s empowering to know we actually have the support of each other — as well as our male counterparts — as we continue to make our way down paths of personal and professional success. You don’t have to be a feminist to acknowledge the significance of our roles locally, or globally. By working hard at our chosen fields, overcoming challenges and obstacles and gaining the respect of our community, we are modeling behaviors that will help shape future female leaders and allow them to pursue their dreams, too. This issue encapsulates the very best of Charleston women, and we certainly hope you see yourself reflected in many of these pages – strong, capable, confident, hard-working, nurturing, focused, determined, dedicated and inspiring.
