A little over 20 years ago, I was a dot.com entrepreneur and chair of the MIT/ Stanford Venture Lab in Silicon Valley. I was introduced to a chiropractic technique called Neuro Emotional Technique (NET). Dr. Scott Walker, the developer of the technique, asked me to be a board member for the ONE Research Foundation. NET is a mind-body technique that changes brain physiology. Through research, we can now show how NET changes your brain as shown on functional MRI studies. How did your business get started? Networking. My first practice in California was focused on NET and pregnant women. I am certified in Webster Technique and was on the board of the Bay Area Birth Information group. It helped moms navigate the birth process from pre- to post-birth. It collaborated with other birth practitioners, cross-referring patients. After home-birthing our third child, we decided to switch coasts and move here to Mount Pleasant to be near family. I am networking with other health care professionals to cross-refer and help new patients to provide the benefits of NET. What is a piece of advice for young women in your field? Network and introduce yourself to lots of people. Be patient with finding your purpose and centering yourself. Consistency beats natural talent. Being an entrepreneur takes resilience. Yes, you can succeed on your terms. Stop comparing.
